Lesson 1A - Why am I a Christian?

Tonight we did started a title page for our book. The journalling on my page reads, " Being a Christian means beleiving in God and that He sent his Son Jesus to die for our sins, obeying His commandments and listening to the Holy Spirit for guidance when we need direction".

My mission statement - Why I am a Christian?

Think about why you think God called you to be a Christian. What do you thinking being a Christian means? How do you try to live your life so that you exhort God to others? Try to make a short sentence or two that describes to someone, “What is a Christian?” . You could start it off by saying, “Being a Christian means ____ to me.” You can write short descriptive words of characteristics of God. Be creative.

Title ideas: My faith in Christ, Life being a Christian, The Christian Life, The Lord is Good to me,

Verses to think about:

Romans 10: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, “and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with you heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

2 Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Galatians 5:22-26 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

John 14:15-17 If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Councselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

1 John 5: 3-5 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even out faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Romans 8:16: The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Philippians 2: 3 – Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
